Heat shrink: a versatile fixation platform for connector termination of fiber cable, pigtail and drop cable with negligibly induced stress

TE Connectivity
Heat shrink fixation is presented as a versatile method to terminate fiber cable, pigtails and drop cables. Heat shrink sleeves with new inner liners result in high axial pull strengths. New connector concepts allow for fixation in an assembled state. Heat is transported via a hot finger through the exposed shielding to allow for heat shrink fixation of a sleeve to bond glass and coating to a molded engine. Concepts were validated by mechanical and optical testing according to IEC standards.
